What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit, which can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.
How We Use Cookies
AInalyzer uses cookies for the following purposes:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| device_id | Essential cookie used to identify your device for rate limiting and abuse prevention. This helps us ensure fair usage of our service and prevent automated abuse. | 1 year |
| next-auth.session-token | Authentication cookie that keeps you logged in when you sign in with Google. Only set if you choose to create an account. | 30 days |
| next-auth.csrf-token | Security cookie that protects against cross-site request forgery attacks during authentication. | Session |
| cookieConsent | Stores your cookie consent preference so we don't show the cookie banner again. | 1 year |
Types of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function properly. They include the device_id cookie for rate limiting and authentication cookies for logged-in users. Without these cookies, the service cannot work as intended.
Functionality Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences (like cookie consent) to provide a more personalized experience.
Third-Party Cookies
We use the following third-party services that may set their own cookies:
- Google OAuth: When you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies to manage authentication. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe (future): When we implement payments, Stripe may set cookies for payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Managing Cookies
You can control and manage cookies in several ways:
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using our service.
- Clear cookies: You can clear all cookies from your browser at any time. This will log you out and reset your rate limit tracking.
Please note that if you delete the device_id cookie, a new one will be created on your next visit, as it is essential for our service to function.
Why We Need the Device ID Cookie
The device_id cookie is essential for:
- Fair usage: We offer 10 free product reviews per day. The device ID helps us track usage fairly across all users.
- Abuse prevention: It prevents users from bypassing rate limits by using VPNs or logging in and out.
- Account linking: If you create an account, your device is linked to your account to provide consistent credit tracking.
Data Storage
The data associated with your cookies (device ID, usage counts, timestamps) is stored securely in our database (Upstash Redis). This data is retained for rate limiting purposes and is automatically cleaned up after 24 hours for anonymous users. For registered users, credit usage history is retained for account management.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
